On 6 February 2011 ATT: Rev Fr Armand de Malleray, FSSP – Ecclesiastical Assistant of the International Juventutem Federation Dear Fr de Malleray, You have written to me to ask me if I would be disposed to give a catechesis and to offer Holy Mass in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman rite for the Juventutem group at the World Youth Days 2011 in Madrid, with permission of the Pontifical Council for the Laity. I thank you for your invitation and I am happy to accept it in principle. I recall with joy my presence among your young people at the International Eucharistic Congress in Québec where, on 21st June 2008, I have offered a pontifical high Mass and I have preached. I know that you are preparing the ‘Week in the Dioceses’ in the diocese of Bilbao from 9th to 15th August, before heading for Madrid for the actual WYD. I wish you a rich spiritual time in that part of Spain, homeland of S Ignatius Loyola, also hallowed by many other saints. May their example and their intercession fortify the youths of Juventutem in their love for Christ and make them joyful and stirring witnesses of the sanctity of the Church.
